Monique Lhuillier is a Filipino-French fashion designer and creative director. She is best known for her bridal, ready-to-wear, and lifestyle brands. Monique launched her eponymous brand in 1996. Since then, she has established fashion houses in Los Angeles, California. The designer primarily works and lives in California and Manhattan’s Upper East Side as well.
In 2013, Monique was invited to be a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. In 2006, the designer received the Presidential Medal of Merit from Philippine president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Monique was featured in a Philippine postage stamp collection in 2021 called Living Legends: World-Renowned Filipinos by Philippine Postal Corporation along with nine others. Other personalities who were in the collection included Kenneth Cobonpue, Efren “Bata” Reyes, Eugene Torre, Jordan Clarkson, Lea Salonga, Diosdado Banatao, Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno, Josie Natori, and Jollibee.

Monique could not find any modern dresses and did not like the excess of lace. The designer used her fashion degree to create dresses for her relatives and bridal party. Following her wedding, there were business cards left for her. It was then that Monique realized she could make a business out of her beautiful bridal designs.
She was joined by her husband Tom as the company as CEO. Monique opened her first retail store in 2001. She drew wide notice for her wedding dresses in 2004 for Britney Spears and Emmy Awards dresses for Allison Janney and Jamie-Lynn DiScala among others. In 2007, Monique opened a Los Angeles “flagship” store on Melrose Place. In 2012, she added a New York store Monique’s collections now include ready-to-wear, bridal, evening gowns, bridesmaids, tableware, linens, fine paper, as well as home fragrances.
She launched a line for babies and kids in 2016, in collaboration with Pottery Barn Kid. The collection featured more than 120 items of home furnishings for the nursery, playroom, and bedroom. Monique has become especially known for her celebrity wedding and red carpet gowns. Her list of clientele includes Melania Trump, Blake Lively, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Stone, Reese Witherspoon, Katy Perry, and Michelle Obama.
