Miniature Bull Terrier Dog Breed Introduction
Miniature Bull Terrier ( also known as Mini Bull Terrier) is a small-sized version of a Bull Terrier from England. Initially, they were three types of Bull Terriers: Standard, Miniature, and Toy. However, toy-sized Bull Terriers fell out of favor remaining only with Miniature and Standard size.
The Mini Bull Terriers have square bodies and egg-shaped heads that are flat on the top with a Roman nose. Due to the terrier in them, Mini Bull Terriers will readily challenge larger dogs. Although, proper training can reduce the likelihood of confrontation. Mini Bull Terriers are mischievous, independent, fearless, upbeat, active, creative, and smart dogs.
Miniature Bull Terrier History
The progenitors of Bull Terriers are Bulldogs and the now-extinct English Terriers. These dogs were crossed to develop Bull and Terrier breeds in England in the 19th century. Soon after, breeders started to work on the miniaturized version to be used as above-ground ratters. After a long period of trial, the Miniature Bull Terriers were created. They were officially recognized by AKC as a breed in 1991. As of now, Mini Bull Terriers are kept as companion dogs although they still retain a protective streak and ratter instinct.
