Mike Birbiglia is a well-known American stand-up comedian, actor, director, producer, and writer. He had his directorial debut Sleepwalk with Me in 2012. He is also a contributor to The Moth and This American Life. Birbiglia wrote, directed, and starred in Don’t Think Twice (2016) and had a recurring role in Orange Is the New Black, Billions, Girls, Inside Amy Schumer, and Broad City. In addition, he is the author of Sleepwalk with Me and Other Painfully True Stories.

Birbiglia was born in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, United States, to Vincent Paul Birbiglia, a doctor, and Mary Jean, a nurse. He is the youngest of four children and holds American nationality. Bibiglia was raised Catholic and is partly of Italian descent. He has three older siblings: Joe, Gina, and Patti Birbiglia. At 56, Birbiglia’s father Vincent suffered a heart attack, as did Vincent’s father.

Comedian Mike Birbiglia
He began his comedy career after seeing comedian Steven Wright, who inspired him to begin writing jokes at age 16. Birbiglia’s sister helped him get an interview and became an intern on Conan O’Brien’s show. In 2000, he moved to New York and appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman in 2002. Moreover, Birbiglia had his first story at the United States Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen in 2003.
He then had a one-man show, Sleepwalk with Me, in 2008 that straddled stand-up comedy and theater at the Bleecker Street Theater.
