Michael Lynton (Full Name: Michael Mark Lynton) is a popular British-American businessman who is the Chairman of the Board of Snap, Inc., a position he has held since 2016. Previously Michael worked as chairman and chief executive of Sony Pictures Entertainment. In 2017, Michael stepped down as CEO of Sony Entertainment to work as Chairman of Snap, makers of the Snapchat mobile app. On February 12, 2019, Michael was named chairman of Warner Music Group.
In 1987, Michael joined The Walt Disney Company, where he began Disney Publishing. He later served as president of Disney’s Hollywood Pictures from 1992 until 1996. From 1996 until 2000, Michael worked as chairman and chief executive officer of Pearson plc’s Penguin Group, extending the Penguin brand to music and the Internet. In 2000, Michael joined Time Warner as CEO of AOL Europe, president of AOL International, as well as president of Time Warner International. In 2018, Michael and his sister Lili started the publisher Lezen and obtained Arcadia Publishing.
