While Meaghan was a student in Alabama, she experienced firsthand, the destructive tornado outbreak on April 27, 2011. This encounter made her intrigued to learn more about atmospheric science. To pursue her new desire for weather, she attended Mississippi State University where she graduated in 2014 with a master’s degree in Broadcast Meteorology. Meaghan served as a teaching assistant in the Department of Communications during her time at MSU.
Throughout graduate school, Meaghan also worked at WCBI, the CBS affiliate, in Columbus, MS where she served as a meteorologist. In addition, she helped to cover April 28, 2014, tornado outbreak all over Mississippi. After she left Mississippi, Meaghan joined the ABC affiliate in Birmingham in the year 2014. She also worked at ABC 33/40 for six years serving the people of Central Alabama as their weekend and morning meteorologist covering everything from tornadoes to ice storms. While she was not at the station, she served as an Adjunct Professor teaching the Fundamentals of Electronic News at the University of Alabama.
Meaghan was acknowledged with the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal of Approval. Besides being a meteorologist who can communicate the weather, she is also a meteorologist that knows the science behind it. Meaghan was immensely invested in Central Alabama but also looks forward to meeting folks during Middle Tennessee and also Southern Kentucky through school visits, events, and church.
