Mary Lambert ( Full name: Mary Danielle Lambert ) is an American spoken word artist, songwriter, and singer.  She worked with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on a track on their album titled The Heist. Mary is the featured artist of the group’s LGBTQ rights single titled “Same Love”.  She drew her contributions to “Same Love” from her experiences as a lesbian who grew up in a tumultuous, Christian upbringing.

Mary took the content that she created for “Same Love” and used it to develop her song titled “She Keeps Me Warm.” The song was released on July 30, 2013, and the music video was released on August 24. on Vevo. Mary’s songs, often emotionally charged, have been considered a mix of  James Blake, Tori Amos, and  Adele while her shows are described as safe spaces where they accept and encourage crying. Mary’s debut EP, titled Letters Don’t Talk, was released on July 17, 2012.

The song peaked at number 18 on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter charts. She released her second EP, titled Welcome to the Age of My Body on December 17, 2013, under Capitol Records. Her studio album titled Heart on My Sleeve, was released on October 14, 2014. The album debuted at number 29 on the Billboard 200.
