In early April 2014, Lynn became a contributing columnist for The New York Times’ publication, The Upshot following Nate Silver’s retirement. Lynn  received a Carnegie fellowship from the Carnegie Corporation in 2015. The fellowship granted her $200,000 to fund her study of the impact of super PACs in the 2016 presidential campaign.  During the When contact changes minds scandal, Lynn was the doctoral advisor to Michael LaCour.

She became the Marvin Hoffenberg Chair in American Politics as well as Public Policy at UCLA  in  January 2018, Lynn published her second book titled “Identity Crisis: The 2016 Presidential Campaign and the Battle for the Meaning of America,” alongside John M. Sides and Michael Tesler in 2018. The book analyzed the 2016 presidential election. Later, Lynn collaborated with Chris Tausanovitch to collect data through the 2020 elections with  Nationscape, a data-gathering and analysis project.
