Lily Cole ( Full name: Lily Luahana Cole ) is a British model, film director, author, actress, and entrepreneur. She pursued a modeling career as a teenager. Lily was listed in 2009 as one of the top 30 models of the 2000s by Vogue Paris. At the age of 16, she was booked for her first British Vogue cover named “Model of the Year” at the 2004 British Fashion Awards.

Lily worked with many well-known brands such as Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, Moschino, and Jean Paul Gaultier. Her advertising campaigns have included Rimmel, Longchamp, Cacharel, and Anna Sui. Her first leading role as an actress came in 2009  when she was cast as Valentina in the 2009 film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Her father left home when Lily was a baby and has no contact with him. She has a and the two were raised by their mother in London. Lily attended four schools.

She made her acting debut in 2007 as Polly in the comedy St Trinian’s, a rework of the black and white films of the 1950s and ’60s. Lily was cast alongside Rupert Everett, Russell Brand, Colin Firth, Jodie Whittaker, and Stephen Fry. In 2009, she had her first leading role came in Terry Gilliam’s fantasy film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Lily played Valentina, the teenage daughter of Christopher Plummer’s title character, Dr. Parnassus.

Parnassus had promised his daughter to the Devil (Tom Waits) upon her 16th birthday. She was cast alongside Heath Ledger but then he died before filming had finished. In an interview for the Daily Telegraph, Lily admitted that, at times, she felt out of her depth in the role. The 2009 film titled Rage, directed by Sally Potter starred Lily as “Lettuce Leaf”, a celebrity supermodel  Also, she played “Aline” in the 2011 film There Be Dragons. She gave an interview to the Canadian edition of Elle in January 2010. In the interview, Lily expressed her desire to focus more on acting than on her modeling career. She stated that “wouldn’t want to treat acting as a convenient thing to do now and again.”
