In November 2021, Lesli posted a photo of her left ankle that needed surgery due to several fractures as well as informed her WUSA 9 viewers of her medical leave. She had initially planned to stay a bit longer on air before leaving for her December surgery. However, things don’t always go as planned. Lesli had an accident while attempting to take a picture of her pup named Boomer. In the process, she lost her balance and as a result, fell backward on the steps.
In an attempt to prevent the fall or worsening the condition of her left ankle, Leslie used her arm. As a result, she fractured her wrist and had to undergo surgery. She underwent two surgeries in two weeks’ time one on her wrist and the other one on her left ankle. The one on her ankle was quite a complicated procedure as it needed a bone graft as well as other treatment. Lesli’s surgeries were both successful and she went back on air in February 2022. However, she had to rely on a scooter for a few more months to get around.
