LaVar Arrington ( Full name: LaVar Rashad Arrington) is a retired American football linebacker. He played in the NFL for seven seasons. At Penn State, LaVar played college football and was drafted in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. He is a former member of the New York Giants who comes from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. While at North Hills Senior High School in Pittsburgh, LaVar played linebacker and running back.
After his senior year, he became USA Today Pennsylvania Player of the Year, the Gatorade Player of the Year, Bobby Dodd National High School Back of the Year, as well as the 1996 Parade National Player of the Year. LaVar became the second player in Pennsylvania Class 4-A history to rush for over 4,000 career yards, with 72 touchdowns and 4,357 on 711 carries.
