Larry Elder is an American conservative talk radio host, author, politician, and attorney. He hosts The Larry Elder Show which began as a local program on Los Angeles radio station KABC in 1993 and ran until 2008.
The second run on KABC was from 2010 to 2014. The show is nationally syndicated, first through ABC Radio Networks from 2002 to 2007 and then Salem Media Group since 2015. In addition, Larry authored nonfiction books and a nationally syndicated column through Creators Syndicate.
In his first run for public office, he was a Republican candidate in the unsuccessful 2021 California gubernatorial recall election of Democrat Gavin Newsom. Additionally, the recall was defeated by a wide margin, with Elder placing first among the replacement candidates.

In July 2021, Larry announced his candidacy to replace Governor Gavin Newsom in the 2021 California gubernatorial recall election. He mentioned that he was encouraged to run by fellow conservative talk-radio figure Dennis Prager, his mentor. A California judge cleared the way for the conservative talk radio host to join the field of candidates.
Eventually, Larry won in Sacramento, where he challenged a decision by state election officials to block him from the September recall ballot, reported The Independent. He tweeted, “Victory! My next one will be on Sept 14 at the ballot box. This isn’t just a victory for me, but a victory for the people of California. And not just those who favor the recall and support me but all voters, including many who will come to know me.”
Larry Elder Minimum Wage
In Larry’s 2000 book, The Ten Things You Can’t Say In America, he laid out a 10-point plan to save America. He called for abolishing the minimum wage, creating a national sales tax, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, reducing government by 80%, ending welfare and entitlements, and eliminating corporate taxes.
Larry opposes minimum wage laws, arguing that the ideal minimum wage is $0.00 and universal basic income. He also opposes California’s unpaid family leave law.In his 2020 film Uncle Tom: An Oral History of the American Black Conservative, Larry criticizes the War on Poverty.
