Kin Shriner is an American actor who is best known for his role as Scott Baldwin on the ABC soap opera titled General Hospital. In December 1996, Plans to spin-off General Hospital but would be titled, Port Charles. Previously, ABC had passed on the idea of a GH spin-off proposed by Claire Labine who is the former head writer of the series.
Tentatively the spin-off which they called GH2 was set to revolve around interns at the medical school across from General Hospital. The executive producer of General Hospital called Wendy Riche was taken in to fill the same role for the new series. “This will be a multigenerational show, which is the kind of drama we’ve always done at GH”. Wendy said of the new show.
Later, it was announced that the series would change its title from GH2 and be named after the fictional city where the series is set, i.e Port Charles. The series would star Lynn Herring and Jon Lindstrom playing their roles from GH. A two-hour primetime special aired on June 1, 1997, as the series premiere. The following day, the series started in its regular timeslot, taking over from The City which had been canceled.
Also, the series featured the return of General Hospital characters Scott Baldwin played by Kin, Gail Baldwin played by Susan Brown, Lee Baldwin played by Peter Hansen, as well as Karen Wexler played by Jennifer Hammon. It was unclear if Herring, Lindstrom, and Shriner would remain with the series after it premiered but they later confirmed that the actors would stay on the show.

He worked as a door-to-door salesman for Fuller Brush prior to becoming an actor. Originally, kin was cast as Scott Baldwin on General Hospital in 1977. He however left General Hospital in the fall of 1980, and immediately started p appearing as Jeb Hampton on the NBC daytime soap opera Texas. In 1981, Kin left the role and soon returned to General Hospital and remained with the series until 1983.
Kin returned for the third time in 1987 and remained with the series until 1993. In between those stints, the actor appeared on the short-lived syndicated daily soap titled Rituals where he appeared as hero Mike Gallagher.
