Ken Korach ( Full name: Kenneth Louis Korach) is an American journalist and published author. He currently serves as a sports commentator for the Oakland Athletics. All through his broadcasting career, Ken has been honored by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association twice. In 2001, Ken was based in Las Vegas and was named the Nevada Sportscaster of the Year for his work with the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels basketball season.

In 2003, He was elected to the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame 2003 by the Nevada Broadcasters Association. Also, Ken was named the California Sportscaster of the Year 2013 after working with the Oakland Athletics radio network as well as 95.7 The Game, beating out John Ireland. In addition, the iconic Bay Area voice was inducted into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame of Northern California in 2017 and was inducted into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame in 2019.

It was reported in March 2012 that Ken underwent left knee replacement surgery and missed several weeks on the broadcast as he was focusing o his recovery. He suffered yet another injury to his left knee after the 2014 season and had been rehabbing it. As a result, he was forced to miss the start of the 2015 Oakland Athletics season. However, ken returned to the booth on May 23, 2015, after missing the first 46 games of the season. Currently, he resides in Henderson, Nevada with his wife Denise Korach (née Moran), and their daughter, Emilee.

He launched his broadcasting career in 1980 by working for KTOB based in Petaluma, California. While there, Ken was involved with high school sports. In 1981, he became part of the California League team Redwood Pioneers. Also, he broadcasted on KSRO on a part-time basis. Eventually, Ken became full-time with them in 1984. While working with the Pioneers, he also became part of the Sonoma State University in 1982  and broadcasted Seawolves’ football and basketball games.

Ken later joined San Jose State University in 1985 and broadcasted for the San Jose State Spartans football as well as men’s basketball teams. He served on the Pacific Coast League’s Phoenix Firebirds broadcast crew for a brief period from 1986 until 1987. From 1989 to 1991, Ken worked with the Las Vegas Stars. He made a number of professional leaps in 1992 prior to joining the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he broadcasted UNLV Rebels football and basketball games.

Ken remained with the football team until 1995 but continued with the basketball team until 2004. In 1992, Ken made his debut in Major League Baseball after joining the Chicago White Sox broadcasting team. He mainly worked weekend games for the White Sox after John Rooney traveled to call the CBS Radio Game of the Week.

Ken became part of the Oakland Athletics in 1996, taking over from long-time sportscaster Lon Simmons. In this role, he worked alongside Bill King, whom Ken regarded as a childhood hero. The team also consisted of former MLB catcher and color commentator Ray Fosse. In the American League by USA Today, the Oakland Athletics radio team was ranked as the second-best crew. Ken was later promoted to lead announcer for the Athletics following the 2005 season where he took over from King after his death in October 2005.

He was the commentator for the conclusion of A’s pitcher Dallas Braden’s perfect game on May 9, 2010. Ken told Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist called Ron Kantowski that despite that everyone in the ballpark knew what was going on, the words “perfect game” weren’t used in the broadcast until the eighth inning. At the game’s conclusion, Ken said, “A PERFECT GAME! Dallas Braden has thrown a perfect game! The A’s have beaten Tampa Bay, four to nothing! The kid from Stockton has done it for the A’s!”

Also, Ken co-authored his second book titled If These Walls Could Talk, Oakland A’s, with Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. The book was published in March of 2019 by Triumph Books.
