Katie Horner is an American Meteorologist. She currently serves as a weatherwoman at KMBC News (ABC affiliate). Prior to that, she worked at KMOV as a 4 Warn Meteorologist, she joined the station in January 2013. Katie serves as the 4 Warn Meteorologist alongside Robin Smith on News 4 at Noon.

She is as well part of the market’s only all-female newscast on News 4 at 5 pm along with Sharon.  Katie is a familiar face to many in Kansas City because she spent 17 years as a Chief Meteorologist in Kansas City. Her career then took Katie from east to west along Interstate 70. For a time, she commuted to St. Louis, Mo. every week to do the weather at KMOV as well as KSDK because she was looking after her father who suffered from a terminal illness.

Katie has run three half-marathons, the Dublin, Ireland Marathon,  as well as the Chicago Marathon. Additionally, Katie completed more than three dozen short triathlons, and too many 5k’s as well as 10k’s to remember. Katie as well completed a 500-mile bike ride via the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

In 1994, she went to Kansas City and became part of the KCTV  team and replaced Gary Amble in 1998, Katie served the station for 18 good years.
She then moved on to St. Louis. There, Katie forecasted the weather at KMOV as well as KSDK while still taking care of her terminally ill father. Sadly, her father later passed on and  Kate traveled to the west and took a position as a Public Affairs Director for the Kansas Adjutant General based in Topeka, Kansas. It was there that Katie turned into the representative for the Kansas National Guard as well as the Kansas Division of Emergency Management.

Katie set up “Seal of Approval Consulting” to help new meteorologists in the field. Apart from being a weather woman, Katie is also a writer, she composed a children’s book called ‘Brainstorming. A Creative Guide book that helps Parents and Children during harsh weather conditions. Additionally, Katie has been thrown polling from one of Kansas City‘s most impressive women.
