Julie’s documentaries honored with first-place awards by the Omaha Press Club in 2012 and 2013. Additionally, Julie received the 2013 Andy awards for best international journalism, from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. During her travel to South Sudan, Africa she managed to produce an hour-long documentary on the medical mission team from Omaha.

Working on documentaries Julie managed to go through powered submarines, to operating rooms in third-world countries. Julie’s most memorable stories include watching a father respond to the prescription drug overdose death of his son, seeing foster kids getting adopted after featuring them in KETV, and a brave man undergoing surgery to treat his Tourettes syndrome.
