John Kasich (Full Name: John Richard Kasich Jr) is a popular American politician, author, and television news host. One of the Republican Party, John worked in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1983 until 2001 and as the 69th governor of Ohio from 2011 until 2019. He, unfortunately, sought his party’s presidential nomination in 2000 and 2016.

Following a single term in the Ohio Senate, John worked nine terms as a member of the United States House of Representatives from Ohio’s 12th congressional district. His work in the House included 18 years on the House Armed Services Committee and six years as chairman of the House Budget Committee. John was a key figure in the passage of both the 1996 welfare reform legislation and the Balanced Budget Act of 1997.

He made a decision not to run for re-election in 2000 and ran for president instead. John withdrew from the race prior to the Republican primaries. Following leaving Congress, John hosted Heartland with John Kasich on Fox News from 2001 until 2007 and worked as managing director of the Lehman Brothers office in Columbus, Ohio. John ran for governor of Ohio in 2010, conquering Democratic incumbent Ted Strickland. John was re-elected in 2014, conquering Democratic challenger Ed FitzGerald by 30 percentage points.

He was term-limited and could not seek a third gubernatorial term in 2018; John was succeeded by fellow Republican Mike DeWine. In 2019, after the end of his second term as governor, John joined CNN as a contributor. He is known as one of Trump’s most known critics within the Republican Party, and he approved Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden for president in a speech at the 2020 Democratic National Convention.
