Joe Bastianich ( Full name: Joseph Bastianich) is an American winemaker, restaurateur, author, musician, and television personality. He co-owns thirty restaurants in four countries, including Osteria Mozza in Los Angeles along with his mother and business partner Lidia Bastianich.

Owners of Osteria Mozza expanded in 2010. They teamed up with businessman Oscar Farinetti earlier that same year to bring an upscale food and wine market called Eataly, to Boston, Las Vegas, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, as well as New York City.

He was born to his parents in Astoria, Queens. Joe’s parents are Italian immigrants Felice and Lidia Bastianich. They were born in Istria ( currently Croatia) and relocated to the United States in 1958 during the large Istrian exodus. They are nationally Italian but their public DNA tests have shown that Joe’s family on his mother’s side is large of Eastern European descent. This is because of the multiethnicity of Istria. Joe’s mother has stated that she feels very Italian. However, she relates to her Slavic roots too.

He was a judge on the American MasterChef series broadcast by Fox. Joe held this role until it took too much of his time.
