Jim Rome ( Full name: James Phillip Rome) is an American sports radio host. He currently serves as a host of a syndicated CBS Sports Radio talk show called The Jim Rome Show. Jim broadcast the show on the radio from a studio near Los Angeles, California. For some years, he hosted another television show called Jim Rome Is Burning (formerly known as Rome Is Burning). The show aired on ESPN in the United States as well as TSN2 in Canada.
In 2011, Jim ended his relationship with ESPN and went to join the CBS network. There, he began hosting his own show and an interview-format show on the Showtime channel. Apart from that, Jim’s past hosting jobs included The Last Word (Fox Sports Net), The FX Sports Show (FX), and sports discussion television shows Talk2 (ESPN2).

Eventually, the journalsit moved to XTRA Sports 690 in San Diego. While there, he launched what is now known as The Jim Rome Show, or “The Jungle.” The show’s signature music was a loop of the instrumental intro of Iggy Pop’s song “Lust for Life” as well as the instrumental intro of Guns N’ Roses’ song “Welcome to the Jungle.” In 1996, the show was syndicated.

He gained notoriety for an incident on his ESPN2 show called Talk2 in 1994 when his guest was NFL quarterback Jim Everett. Previously, Jim referred to Everett as “Chris” (after the female tennis player, Chris Evert, ), suggesting that Everett was less than a man whenever he shied away from getting hit. Everett appeared as a guest on the show and warned Jim about repeating the insult. However, Jim continued to address Everett as “Chris.” Everett overturned the table between them and shoved Jim to the floor while still on the air. Their confrontation resulted in no legal action but Jim publicly apologized to Everett and he still considers that event one of his early career mistakes.

The two unexpectedly started to discuss a possible return of the journalist to ESPN, and within a few months, he was officially rehired to host a show called Rome Is Burning.
