Jim Defede is an American veteran anchor, reporter, host, and author. He currently serves as an investigative reporter for CBS4. Also, Jim hosts the channel’s Sunday morning public affairs program called “Facing South Florida.” In 1986, Jim landed his first job in journalism where he worked as a night cops reporter for The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Washington.
He then accepted an offer to become a staff writer with the weekly newspaper Miami New Times in 1991. While working for the paper, Jim won many awards during his eleven-year tenure. Jim served as a metro columnist for The Miami Herald between 2002 and 2005. Also, he has been a contributing writer for Tina Brown’s Talk magazine and his work has appeared in Loft, Key West Magazine Miami Monthly, The (London) Independent, Mother Jones, Newsday, The New Republic, and Radar.
