He commenced his career at Focus in 1989 as an assistant to the president, fostering relationships with the ministry’s supporters. Jim became appointed international field director for Asia, Africa, and Australia in 1992, and in 1997 was promoted to vice president of the International Division. His stepfather emptied the family home and left him, the youngest of five children, and his siblings to fend for themselves after their mother’s funeral.
