Jean Chatzky (Full name Jean Sherman Chatzky) is an American founder and CEO of the multimedia company HerMoney, journalist, financial editor of NBC’s TODAY show, Personal finance columnist, as well as the AARP’s personal finance ambassador. She began her career as a journalist in 1986. She rose from being an editorial assistant to the assistant editor.
In 1989 Jean left the journalism field and joined the equity research department of Dean Witter Reynolds. Two years later, she returned to journalism but now as a reporter/researcher at Forbes. Jean moved to the Dow Jones/Hearst start-up SmartMoney in 1992. There, she rose from staff writer to senior editor. After a period of five years, in 1998, Jean joined Money Magazine. Over her working years, she has appeared on Oprah, Live With Regis and Kelly, The View, as well as other programs.
