After studying musical theater, dance, and studio art at Catawba College, she headed to New York City to begin her career in the performing arts. Nicole landed the coveted role of Nicolette in Chasing Nicolette at the Prince Music Theatre, earning a Barrymore nomination for Best Actress. She transitioned to television and film shortly after starring in the ballroom dance movie Take the Lead and eventually landing the role of Astrid Farnsworth on Fox’s sci-fi drama Fringe.
