Janine Stanwood Thyroid | Health
It was June 2020 when Janine’s primary care doctor noticed a small lump on the right side of her neck. the doctor thought it was an enlarged thyroid gland, which is common among women. However, the images on the ultrasound showed suspicious nodules on both sides of the thyroid. After a biopsy was later taken, she then was told it was thyroid cancer.
Dr. David Arnold said the diagnosis was papillary thyroid cancer, which is a relatively common cancer. Because the cancer was on both sides of the thyroid, the doctors had to take the entire gland out. Janine is also a breast cancer survivor and regularly undergoes radioactive iodine therapy.
