Janet Yellen is an American economist. Currently, she serves as the 78th United States secretary of the treasury since January 26, 2021. Yellen served as a member of the Brookings Institution and the Chair of the Federal Reserve from 2014 to 2018. She was also a Vice-Chair from 2010 to 2014.
Yellen was nominated by President Barack Obama as chair of the United States Federal Reserve. The U.S. Senate confirmed Yellen’s nomination on January 6, 2014. She was the first woman to hold the position. Her term on the board lasted until February 3, 2018.
