Janelle Arthur ( Full name: Janelle Oredith Arthur ) is an American songwriter and singer. She emerged in fifth place on the 12th season of the American Idol show. At the age of eight years old, Janelle portrayed Dolly Parton in a theatrical production of Dolly’s life at Dollywood theme park. Janelle began performing in 2001 as a child for the Country Tonite Theater based in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Later, Janelle returned to the Country Tonite Theater stage but this time as an adult performer. She remained with the cast for another four years. From 1998 to 2009, Janelle performed in over 3,000 shows in the Pigeon Forge area. In 2010, she relocated to Nashville, Tennessee where she pursued her music career.

On April 21, 2017, she released another single titled “Light Myself on Fire”A song she co-wrote with Dana Jorgensen and produced by Brad Hill. In June 2013, Janelle made her debut at the Grand Ole Opry. It was a “pinch me” moment for Jamelle who is an American Idol Season 12 alum, as she entered the circle for the first time ever. Janelle opened her 3 song set with a heartfelt cover of Hank William’s classic titled “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.” Next, Janelle performed a song titled “Young and Reckless,” that her uncle co-wrote with Bill Owens, Janelle told a lovely story about the guitar her uncle made for her while she was on American Idol.

Bill Owens just happens to be the uncle of Dolly Parton. Although she loved the hook, Janelle played around with the verses so that the song would suit her. She closed her set with a worship song.
