His career kicked off at KWQC TV-6 News as a Summer News intern in May 2012. After four months, he became Highlight Zone Photographer and Reporter where he shot, edited, and scripted highlights on basketball, football, and wrestling for KWQC’s Highlight Zone show every Friday night. In March 2014, the station promoted him to work as Photographer and Editor where he was responsible for general news photography and editing.
After nine months, James became Multimedia Journalist and Fill in Anchor at KWQC for one year and nine months. Before leaving the station in July 2018, James worked as Weekend Anchor for two years where he lead weekend coverage and help mentor and develop new reporters. In addition, he created a weekend news plan, similar to a weekend assignment desk manager.
