James Roday Rodriguez is an American director, actor, and screenwriter. He is best known for starring Shawn Spencer, a  hyper-observant consultant detective and fake psychic in the USA Network series titled Psych. The two later co-wrote and directed Rodriguez’s second film titled Treehouse as part of Hulu’s monthly horror movie anthology Into The Dark. The film aired in March 2019. Rodriguez went back to his most famous role in 2017 starring in Psych and at the same time serving as its executive producer. Rodriguez co-wrote the movie with Psych series creator Steve Franks and it aired in December 2017.

On February 14, 2019, a sequel, Psych 2: Lassie Come Home was officially announced. It was filmed in March and April 2019 in Vancouver and debuted on July 15, 2020, on NBC Universal’s streaming service Peacock.
