James Gorman ( Full Name: James Patrick Gorman) is a popular Australian-American financier who is the chairman and chief executive officer of Morgan Stanley. Previously, James worked since December 2007 as Co-President of Morgan Stanley and has also worked as Co-Head of Corporate Strategy. James joined Morgan Stanley in February 2006 as President and Chief Operating Officer of Wealth Management.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, James held a succession of executive positions at Merrill Lynch. From 2001 until 2005 James led the company’s US and, subsequently, global private client businesses. James joined Merrill Lynch in 1999 as Chief Marketing Officer and also worked as head of Strategy and Research. Before Merrill Lynch, James was a senior partner at McKinsey & Co., where he was a member of the firm’s financial services practice. Earlier in his career, James was an attorney in Melbourne, Australia.
Some of his civic activities, he works on the Federal Advisory Council to the U.S. Federal Reserve Board, the Board of Overseers of the Columbia Business School, the Monetary Authority of Singapore International Advisory Panel, and the Institute of International Finance.
