George Santos (Real Name: George Anthony Devolder Santos) is a popular American politician who works as the U.S. representative for New York’s 3rd congressional district, since 2023. A member of the Republican Party, George was elected to Congress in 2022 following running unsuccessfully in 2020 against incumbent Thomas Suozzi. He is the first openly LGBT member voted to Congress as a Republican.
George has made many false or dubious claims about his biography, work history, criminal record, financial status, ethnicity, religion, as well as other matters, both in public and in private. He has refused calls for his resignation from the House. House Republican leaders Kevin McCarthy, Steve Scalise, and Elise Stefanik chose not to pressure George to leave, nor to seek his expulsion.
