Geoff Hart is a former American anchor and reporter. Most recently, He served as the co-anchor of WYFF News 4 ( NBC affiliate ) based in Greenville Sc. There, Geoff co-hosted the Today show every weekday morning hours. He worked for the station from 1993 to May 2021 when he left the station due to his health issues. Geoff took his early retirement from the media industry on May 20, 2021 after he was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.

Geoff was hired for the first time as a Sportscaster at  WECT-TV6 based in Wilmington, NC  after grad school at Emerson College. While there, Geoff often covered native son Michael Jordan. In 2006, Geoff spent a month in Italy while covering the Winter Olympics in Torino for WYFF News 4 as well as all of Hearst’s other tv stations. He is a Canadian born who became a naturalized American citizen in 2007.

He was born to his late father Charlie and mother Barbara in Canada. However, Geoff spent most of his childhood in England. He was raised by his parents along with his four brothers as the second lastborn. Later, when Geoff was a teenager,  his family relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Charlie died in 2008. Geoff’s three older brothers still live in Canada while the younger brother lives in Florida.

He grew up as British soccer. Geoff then became a placekicker at Cardinal Gibbons High. Eventually earning a scholarship to Northeastern University in Boston. While there,  Geoff kicked for the Huskies for 4 years. He took a shot at the pros and signed with the Patriots in 1986 before going back to school to earn his Master’s Degree in Communications.

Geoff got his first TV job in Wilmington, NC in 1989. Four years later, he went to Greenville. Geoff won a number of industry awards throughout his career. Those awards including the 2010 Southeast Regional Emmy for Best Sportscast. In the same year, he won the Best Sportscaster award presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolina.

He has been on medical leave since December 2020. On May 20, 2021, Geoff made an announcement that he would not go back to WYFF after he was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. The sad news broke the WYFF family as the station’s President and General Manager John Humphries broke the news to his co-workers. John said that even though Geoff will be with his family as he focused on his health, the WYFF fraternity will continue to support him in any way possible.

Geoff joined the station in 1993. he worked for 18 years as a Sports Director. In 2006, he joined the Station’s team in Italy where he covered Torino Winter Olympics. In 2011, Geoff shifted his focus to the news desk where he worked as a weekday morning anchor. Geoff is a well-known journalist to his viewers who have watched his 28-year career in Upstate.
