Faith Kipyegon is a noted Kenyan middle- and long-distance runner. She is currently world record holder for the 1500 meters, and 5000 meters, all set in 2023. She won a gold medal in the 1500 m in both the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Moreover, she is the only female athlete to win both the 1500 m and 5000 m events at the same world championships in 2023.
When she was a junior, she won gold medals at the 2011 and 2013 World Cross Country Championships. Kipyegon also won the 1500 m at the 2011 World Youth Championships and the 2012 World Junior Championships.
