According to Miami Beach police, Erick was found dead in the morning hours of Sep. 1, 2020. However, the cause of his death could not readily be established at the death scene. Preliminary reports by the police indicate that there were no clear indications that there may have been a foul play or apparent suicide. Police spokesperson, Ernesto Rodriguez, said that the cause of death would be derived from the Medical Examiner’s Office after a postmortem.

Erick was arrested on August 6, 2020, and subsequently charged with the sexual battery of a woman. According to his accuser, who is also a DJ, they were working together at a private party on Star Island in Miami Beach before retiring to Erick’s Miami Beach home in December 2019. She contended that she got very drunk and passed out only to wake up nude in bed beside Erick who was also nude.
Her allegations were further strengthened when DNA extracts found inside her were ascertained to be Erick’s. He turned himself in shortly after before being released on bond. He was scheduled to appear in court on September 4, 2020, but died on September 1.
