Police officers rescued her on a public street in Sandy 18 miles from her home on March 12, 2003.

Wanda pleaded guilty to aiding in the kidnapping of Smart during a court trial on November 16, 2009. She was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison by federal Judge Dale A. Kimball on May 19, 2010.
