David Yeomans is an American journalist currently working as a weekday morning meteorologist for KXAN-TV in Austin, Texas. He joined the KXAN-TV weather team in June 2012. David had an interest in weather from a young age for as long as he can remember.

He would go to the public library to check out stacks of meteorology books when he was in fourth grade, to gather as much knowledge as he could.

After Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans in the year 2005, he served as an assistant carpenter where he helped to rebuild the upper-Ninth Ward neighborhood with Habitat for Humanity. Also, David did his fact-finding concerning the hurricane formation of his Masters’s thesis and was also a guest of the scientist abroad, an NOAA Hurricane Hunter flight.

In the years 2012, 2013, and 2016 he was invited to present his fact findings at the American Meteorological society’s annual conventions. In addition, David is a Confirmed Broadcast Meteorology who holds a seal from the American Meteorological Society.

Moreover, he has received many awards throughout his career journey including a Lone Star Emmy Award for the First Warning Weather University series in the year 2019 and another Lone Star Emmy Award for the First Warning Weather Team’s Summer Weather Outlook in 2015. David was honored First Place Weathercast in 2016 by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters. Furthermore, he was also honored as the Television On-Air Personality of the year by the Alliance for Women in Media in the year 2018.

He also said that the surgery of repairing a torn labrum he had sustained during his mountain biking in the greenbelt was successful. He had a dog named Maggie who died after spending almost 3 years with his family. David says that one of Maggie’s favorite birthday and road trip treats was a McDonald’s hamburger.
