He became traded on September 29, 2007, back to the Hornets for Cedric Simmons. The New Jersey Nets reacquired guard him on October 29, 2007, from the New Orleans Hornets for swingman Bernard Robinson, center Mile Ilić and cash considerations. Not even a week after the Nets signed him, he became also waived on November 1, 2007. Following a few days, David stated he planned on ending his NBA career.
