David Grann ( Full name: David Elliot Grann) is an American journalist, a New Yorker magazine staff writer, and a best-selling author. His first book titled The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon was published in February 2009 by Doubleday. The book debuted on The New York Times bestseller list at #4 after its first week of publication.

Davi’s articles have also been collected in a number of anthologies such as The Best American Sports Writing of 2003 and 2006, What We Saw: The Events of September 11, 2001, as well as The Best American Crime Writing of 2004 and 2005. Also, David has written for other papers such as The Weekly Standard, The Wall Street Journal,  The Washington Post,  The Atlantic, The New York Times Magazine. Grann was born on September 2, 1937, and worked as a book editor and publishing executive. Phyllis became the first female CEO of a major publishing firm called Penguin Putnam. On the other hand, Victor Director of the Bennett Cancer Center in Stamford, Connecticut, also works as an oncologist. David grew up along with his two siblings named Edward and Alison.

The article raised questions concerning the methods of Peter Paul Biro who claimed to use fingerprints in assisting authenticate lost masterpieces. Peter sued David and The New Yorker for libel. However, the case was summarily dismissed and the article became a finalist for the 2010 National Magazine Award.
