Dan joined the network in 1981 and has been covering the Boston Red Sox for the station since then. Also, he was the winner of the BBWWAA Career Excellence Award which was presented at the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in the year 2016.
Moreover, Dan received the J. G. Taylor Spink Award from the Baseball Hall of Fame in the year 2016. He was nicknamed Shank by the Boston Celtics team in the 1980s for the often encomiastic and critical nature of his articles.
