Cynthia Rowley is an American fashion designer from the Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. She won a SAIC fellowship award in her senior year in 1981 and used the money to move from Chicago to New York City. Later, Cynthia launched her career with $3,000 in seed money from one of her grandmothers. Her first capsule collection was launched in 1988.
Since then Cynthia has grown to include women’s wear, office accessories, handbags, bedding products, wetsuits and swimwear, color cosmetics, glasses, fragrance, and home furnishings. Also, the designer created a line of home accessories called Swell. She named the accessories based on a book series she co-wrote with friend Ilene Rosenzweig. The book made its debut at Target in 2003.
She presented a limited menswear range, the Mr. Powers collection in 2011 which was named after her husband Bill Powers. Her fashions are presented bi-annually at New York Fashion Week. She has stress in New York City, Montauk, Chicago, Palm Beach, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Newport Beach as well as at the company’s web store. The New York Times described her designs as “flirty, vibrantly colored dresses and tops in wispy materials” that have “a whiff of the carefree, simple spirit” of Claire McCardell.

Cynthia and her daughter created a podcast together called Ageless in 2019. Kit was a contestant on The Bachelor in 2021 where she alluded to having a well-known mother.
