Constantine got a nomination as Leading Actor for the Tony Award for Best Performance in a Musical for his role in Rock of Ages.  Also, Constantine starred in the title role in Jekyll and Hyde on Broadway. From his role, Constantine received a Drama League Award Nomination for a Distinguished Performance Award.

He traveled to Washington DC to audition for the fourth season of American Idol in August 2004 as he acted upon his ex-girlfriend’s suggestion. For the 2005 season, the producers of the show changed the age range of contestants from 16–24 to 16–28. Constantine and Bo Bice were among the first contestants who benefit from this change. He and Bice are also notable for being among the first contestants who competed using the rock idiom.

However, on April 27, 2005, Constantine was eliminated from American Idol after performing Nickelback’s “How You Remind Me” during the 2000s music round. Some days prior to his elimination, Constantine’s pre-Idol band, Pray for the Soul of Betty, announced the release of their self-titled debut on their label, Baby Julius on May 10th the same year. Later, Constantine got featured on American Idol Season 4.

His rendition of the Queen classic “Bohemian Rhapsody” gave him a chance to be a judge.  Constantine later recorded a studio version of the track for Killer Queen: A Tribute to Queen at the personal invitation of Queen’s guitarist Brian May.
