Chris interned at Transworld Surf Magazine in 2006 for four months before he became assistant photo editor. He earned a position as the senior staff photographer at Surfline in 2008 at the age of 21. He was hired at Surfer Magazine in 2010. He holds the position of a senior staff photographer since 2013.
