She also served as a political analyst for CNN, as well as an investigative reporter for NPR. In 2015, Caitlin was awarded Peabody Award for an NPR special series that covered race-based testing of mustard gas on American troops in WWII.
Caitlin launched her professional career by serving as an intern at NPR. After her internship, she went to work at NPR as a producer, later, the journalist landed a role on NPR’s Investigations Desk. revealed that the Department of Veteran Affairs failed to honor the promises made in the 1990s to seek out and also provide compensation to veterans who had suffered permanent injuries due to the testing. In response to the investigation, Congress called for investigations and hearings. This ultimately led to the passage of a law that ensured compensation for test subjects. Caitlin and her investigative team won both the 2015 Peabody Award and the 2016 RTDNA National Edward R. Murrow Award for their reporting.
