Initially, he joined Fox in September 1999 as a sports reporter and weekend anchor. However, he was promoted to the role of the main sports anchor in 2001 following the departure of Levan Reid.
While working for Fox, Butch made an appearance on the NFL on Fox in December 2004 as a sideline reporter for the New England Patriots against the San Francisco 49ers during matchup week 17 at Gillette Stadium. Unfortunately, his contract was not renewed by Fox in November 2009. However, Butch made his return to Fox 25(now Boston 25) in the fall of 2014 as a temporary replacement.
