Bob Walk ( Full name: Robert Vernon Walk) is an American retired professional baseball pitcher nicknamed “The Whirly Bird.” In 1980, he played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies. His Phillies won against the Kansas City Royals in six games.
Bob was traded to the Braves and bounced between the main club and Triple-A, until he was released in March 1984. The Pirates signed Bob to a minor league contract and he led the Pacific Coast League (PCL) in earned run average (ERA) as well as wins in 1985. Bob and the team earned a trip back to the majors. In 1988, he was named to the All-Star team after winning 12 games and posted a 2.71 ERA.

Leyland opted to keep Belinda to pitch to Cabrera despite both Bob and Cabrera being right-handers and having walked Damon Berryhill to load the bases, as well as giving up a deep fly ball to Ron Gant.
