Bob Uecker is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) player. Currently, he serves as a sportscaster, comedian, and actor. Bob was nicknamed “Mr. Baseball” by TV talk show host Johnny Carson.
He has served as a play-by-play announcer for Milwaukee Brewers radio broadcasts since 1971. Additionally, Bob became honored by the National Baseball Hall of Fame with its 2003 Ford C. Frick Award in recognition of his broadcasting career.
He played six seasons in the majors from 1962-1967, playing catcher for three different National League teams: Braves, Cardinals, and Phillies. He wrote a humorous autobiography entitled “Catcher in the Wry” and also appeared in a popular series of Lite beer commercials before landing his first movie role.
