Currently, he is working as the Humanist Chaplain for the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. He was a pastor before transitioning from Christianity to secular humanism. Bart is the co-founder of Mission Year and is the author of several books. He is also, knows for giving impassioned speeches to young people while recruiting them to be more involved in their local urban areas.

Previously, he served as Humanist Chaplain for the University of Southern California in the Greater Los Angeles Area. Notably, Bart was the first humanist chaplain at the University of Southern California.
