She owns the restaurants Black Market Liquor Bar, Scopa Italian Roots, and DAMA in Los Angeles, California. Lofaso has appeared on the reality TV shows Top Chef, Chopped, Cutthroat Kitchen, and Restaurant Startup, among others.

She initially rose to fame by competing in the fourth season of the Bravo series Top Chef. Lofaso went on to appear in Top Chef: All-Stars and then the spin of Top Chef Duels. She has since become the executive chef and owner of the Black Market in Studio City, California.

Ingredients
1 cup olive oil
2 large heads of broccoli,
1 tablespoon kosher salt
8 garlic cloves
1 pound penne rigate
1/2 cup shredded or grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
2 tablespoons chopped Italian flat-leaf parsley, for garnish

Method
Heat the water for your pasta while you prepare the broccoli. In a shallow, 10-inch saute pot, heat the 1 cup of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli to the oil and season it with salt. Throw in the garlic and cook for about another minute, until it’s slightly brown. Take the broccoli off the heat and set it aside.

Prepare the penne according to the package directions. Drain the pasta and toss it in the pot with broccoli, garlic, and olive oil. Toss in the Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, stir and garnish with the parsley.
