Andrea Canning (Full Name: Andrea Mead Canning) is a Canadian-American journalist and writer. Currently, Andrea is a New York-based correspondent for Dateline NBC. She joined Dateline NBC in October 2012 and also contributes to other NBC News platforms like Today, NBC Nightly News and MSNBC. Andrea is also a Today and Weekend Today fill-in anchor and news anchor.
Besides serving as a journalist, she is a writer for Hallmark Channel and Lifetime movies. Andrea began working as a reporter and co-anchor of the evening newscast at WCPO-TV in Cincinnati. From 1999 until 2001, she served for WPTV-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida and from 1997 until 1999 worked as a reporter and anchor for CKVR-TV in Barrie, Ontario. Andrea was also the morning anchor at WXVT-CBS in Greenville, Mississippi.
Before CKVR, from 1996 until 1997, she worked as an assignment editor for the tabloid TV show Extra. While residing in Los Angeles, Andrea was also an intern for Baywatch and shared a house with future media personality and host Ryan Seacrest. From 2004 to April 2012, she served as a correspondent for ABC News.
