Amy Nay Weight Loss
According to Amy, during the COVID-19 pandemic, many people left their regular exercise routines to slip away. Amy urged that it was a great time to take charge and do something good for our health, even without fancy gym equipment. As Allie Henderson, Wellness Consultant with Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah said, “There’s still a lot you can do in your home with just your own body. Your body weighs a lot, so there are lots of things you can do without equipment.”
Henderson said that 20 to 30 minutes is all you need and recommended HITT training. “Getting that heart rate up really fast for just 30 seconds to a minute, and some recovery type moves in between can be very effective.”What one can do at home for exercise include Jumping jacks, burpees, and high knees for short cardio bursts. Henderson also suggested that trying to make it a game – even using a deck of cards is so helpful. “Each suite is assigned a move and when you draw a card that suits that, that’s your move. Then the number on the card tells you how many reps you have. If you choose a face card you just assign it to a cardio move,”
Setting a goal is also important but don’t just focus on weight loss. one can measure how far he/she can run or how many push-ups one can do. Henderson said “Having something you can work toward, really makes a difference in the enjoyment that you get,” Also, one should not forget about a healthy pre-workout snack – something containing protein and carbs, and also steer clear of foods high in fiber, sugar, or fat.
