In addition, she had a special connection and a great sense of communication with her horses at an early age. As she was passing through Sinclair, WY she was distracted and took a look at her map only to look up after a few seconds to realize that she had moved into the other lane, headed towards a metal beam. In an attempt to get back to her lane, Amberley overreacted causing her truck to slide off the road and roll. Snyder was ejected from the vehicle and slammed into a fence post that breaking her back. She lost feeling in her legs immediately after the accident.
Snyder was rushed to the hospital and after five hours of emergency surgery, the doctor’s prognosis was she will never feel her legs below her waist or regain their use. In addition, the doctor told her that if she had worn her seatbelt, she would probably still have use of her legs. That one mistake she made changed her life completely but it did not bring down her competitive spirit. Snyder’s top priority was to ride her horse again. After only four months after the accident, she was back on her horse.

After her dad Cory Snyder retired from baseball, the family relocated to Utah when Amerley was 7 years old. She only agreed to move if she was promised a barrel racing horse and when she got there, her wish was granted. That marked the beginning of Snyder’s rodeo career journey.
Her mom, Tina Snyder played an important role in cultivating her passion, and within no time she was competing in barrel racing, pole bending, breakaway roping, and goat tying. Snyder qualified for the National High School Finals in the pole bending in 2009. In addition, she won the National Little Britches Rodeo Association All-Around Cowgirl World Championship. Her objective every day during practice and in the competition was hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. This reinforcement from her parents accredited to a large part of her success.
She gained leadership and communication skill from the organization which has been invaluable to her making the organization very dear to her. Despite the accident completely changing her life, it did not bring down her competitive spirit. For months after the accident, she was back on her horse. After the accident, she realized that it was a unique opportunity to reach out and inspire people with her in an unfamiliar situation.
