Previously, she worked in Ohio for two years as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor at KATV. Her broadcasting career began in August 2010 in Columbia, when she was hired at Time Warner Inc., as an Official Statistics Assistant. There, Alexis worked for a year and seven months, and later relocated to Chicago.
In Chicago, she was hired at Clear Channel Media & Entertainment, where she worked as a 107.5 WGCI FM Programming Intern for four months. In August 2012, she returned to Columbia and was hired as a reporter at KBIA Public Radio for five months. Alexis later left and joined KCOU-FM 88.1 as a host and producer, where she hosted a segment named “The Last Word”. In May 2012, she was made President of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) she held the position for two years.
Alexis later joined KOMU-TV and was first hired as a production assistant. However, six months later she was promoted to the station’s producer. Four months later, she was reassigned to the station’s news anchor and later to a reporter. Furthermore, she worked for half a year at Newsy as an anchor and reporter.
